Marmite and sugar in hot water tastes horrible.

Most of you would probably be intelligent enough not to try this - I'm getting somewhat desperate to get my throat less tickly (it's not even properly sore... but I'm worried it'll turn into tonsilitis and then I'll get scarlet fever like Helen did here in November and I'll be in bed for 3 weeks like she was and *hypochondriacs*) - but just don't, it's horrible, but having concocted it I now feel obliged to drink it.

It's probably not even doing any good :(

I've never tried it with sugar, but Marmite in boiling water (possibly with milk) is good. I suspect the sugar is messing it up - Marmite being salty and all. Hot Marmite was instrumental in helping me survive a Lent without caffeine a couple of years ago - herbal teas just don't have the body.

I know... normally I got for hot Marmite just on its own, but it was making me feel ill. So I was entirely sensible and put sugar in... ho hum. It was mostly wierd. More wierd than cough mixture rinsed out with tonic water.

Never tried hot Marmite with milk, though...

honey, hot water and lomon jiuce, plus ginger cinnoomone gin/whiskey

the important bit is teh the honey which has antiseptic in, sugar just gives teh bacteria something to eat.

See... I'm lacking the lemon juice, which is bad.

If I had Malibu as well I'd make the patent Edinburgh alcoholic cough mixture - hot water, lemon, honey and Malibu. If I remember from the Friday night it worked terrifyingly well!

If nothing else, hot whisky.

If you can get an evil minion to get you lemon, honey, ginger, cloves and a whole clove of garlic, you may like to add these to the whisky and hot water.

But mainly whisky.

Lacking whiskey, too. But, last TD with work to do for it today (i.e. revision I haven't done) so will be out drinking tonight and then things such as sore throat and all the rest will sink away into fuzzy alcohol induced haze....
